The Fishing Expedition I went on a fishing charter yesterday for 6 hours. The boat had a crew of 2 and 9 passengers and took us about 15kms offshore to reef. This was my first time fishing on the ocean and it was unbelievable. I can't get over how many fish we caught. It was well worth the $95 for the experience and the approximately $200 worth of fish I brought home. The crew only cleaned the biggest fish as the laws here won't let them clean smaller fish and Tuna due to the amount of bones in the meat and the possibility of legal action being brought against the tour operator. The best part was that I caught the biggest fish of the day, a 35lbs Cobia. Although this is what the crew was hoping we would catch it was the only one of the day. This sucker took me over half and hour to land and when it surfaced for the first time there were two huge fins sticking out of the water which made it look like a shark, then it went back down to the bottom. I got it close to the surface 3 times and each time it dove again. I finally reeled it in and both the fish and I were spent. We also caught lots of Tuna, Taylor, a Snapper, and a Parrot fish. I may have to go again for a full day where they take you out to deeper waters and the trip is geared toward bigger fish.
